YL A1 - YL A2
British Institutes has developed the Young Learners examinations for Lower Secondary School students.
The aim of the examination is to convince the young learners that they have attained an objective, a goal on the English learning pathway.
The BIYL examinations have an enjoyable, fun, motivating and appealing structure; in this way, the examination itself seems like an amusing game, a cultural meeting with another country, an occasion in which the children and teenagers can proudly demonstrate their powers of expression in English.
The syllabi planned for the British Institutes Young Learners examinations contain topics that arouse students’ curiosity, intriguing them and stimulating their desire to learn and experience the English language, placing the emphasis on expressiveness, creativity, imagination, analysis, processing, reasoning and curiosity.
The British Institutes Young Learners (BIYL) examinations test competence in the four skills:
writing, reading, listening, and speaking.
The BIYL examinations, in addition to motivating young people to study English, making them aware of their own abilities, also create a bridge leading to British Institutes General English certification geared to adults and to Secondary School and University students.
The YLA1 and YLA2 levels correspond to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) A1 and A2 levels for grammatical competence and pragmatic competence but differ in the lexical elements, topics and linguistic elements as they refer to textbooks and themes appropriate for the age group.
